Salida has an ideal climate for year-round outdoor recreation. This quaint town is situated in the “Heart of the Rockies.” It is on the eastern slope of the Rocky Mountains and bordered on the west by the Sawatch Mountain range. The Arkansas River flows past the edge of town, making it an ideal location for many river sports. It's location near several of Colorado's “Fourteener” mountain peaks makes it a favorite base location for climbing. The area has a number of great trails for hiking, biking, horseback riding, or trail running.
